Why memorize Scripture when you can just Google it?
Because 2 a.m. doesn't come with a search bar. When the baby won't settle or the anxiety spikes in the shower, the verses that actually help are the ones already in you. "I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you" (Psalm 119:11, ESV) — stored, not bookmarked.
The 5-minute method
- Pick one verse. Read it aloud three times, looking at the whole thing.
- Tap Hide more words. Say the verse aloud, filling the blanks. Flip to check.
- Repeat until every word is hidden and you can still say it.
- Say it once more with your eyes closed, including the reference.
- Tomorrow, start by reciting yesterday's verse before learning anything new.
With kids
Children memorize faster than we do. Pick a short verse, add hand motions, and say it at the same moment every day — buckling car seats works. Print the cards and let your child decorate them. Our 30 short Bible verses are a good place to start, and the Verse of the Day gives you a fresh candidate every morning.
